Dr. Martin Howard Strauss BSc, MD, FRCP(C)), FACC , Cardiology & Internal Medicine
Experience:
A cardiologist at the North York General Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Since 1986, a practising clinical cardiologist and member of the Department of Cardiology and Internal Medicine. Prior to its merger with North York General in 2001, Dr. Strauss was Chief of Department of Cardiology at Branson Hospital where he also served as director of the coronary care unit, and chaired committees, including pharmacy and therapeutics, and critical care. He is in full time clinical practice as a non-invasive cardiologist. Dr. Strauss’s main research interest is in the role of ACEI and ARB in vascular disease and has published extensively on it in peer reviewed medical journals including the European Heart Journal, British Medical Journal, Canadian Journal of Cardiology, and most recently CIRCULATION, the cardiology journal of the American Heart Association. He has also published recently on adiponectin and endothelial progenitor cells. Dr. Strauss has also recently published in major medical journals on omega 3 fatty acids and implantable defibrillators, endothelial progenitor cells, and adiponectin. He has been an invited lecturer across Canada as well as Japan and China. Research Appointments Dr. Strauss has just been appointed a Scientist, in the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery, at Saint Michael’s Hospital of the University of Toronto.
